Title | Engineering success: the democratic costs of the common market for public sector information in the EU |
Summary | The goal of the thesis is to ascertain the consequences of the creation of a single market for public sector information in the European Union for the existing balance of democratic and economic values as well as the traditional institutions of its MS. The author will assess the possible effects of rigorous implementation of the Directive 2003/98/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council “on the re-use of public sector information” The theoretical framework of the analysis is informed by the concepts developed in the work of Fritz W. Scharpf, who focuses on the impact of shifting economic policies to the European level upon democratic legitimacy and institutions in the nation state. |
