| Summary | The main purpose of the present thesis is to evaluate the Turkish nation-building process in the multi-ethnic Ottoman Empire in its last decade. I will focus on a particular aspect of this phenomenon, the use of gymnastics and physical education in the construction as well as in the mobilization of the Turkish ‘nation’. |
