CEU eTD Collection (2007); Kepplova, Zuzana: Agruing with the raving Phallus

CEU Electronic Theses and Dissertations, 2007
Author Kepplova, Zuzana
Title Agruing with the raving Phallus
Summary This thesis discusses some of the key psychoanalytic concepts as they are used in the literature on rave culture. Departing from the Freudian perspective on altered states of consciousness, narcissism and female sexual development, the rave literature that I am analyzing in my thesis uncritically reiterates certain masculinist and heterosexist presuppositions which underlie these concepts. In order to argue for a possible strategic position from which non-subjects could be theorized in relation to rave culture, I am exploring some of the possibilities open by Irigaray’s concept of female jouissance and Deleuze and Guattari’s ‘body-wi thout-organs&#x 2019; and ‘becomings’.
