| Title | The Impact of the European Union's structural policy on the development of civil society in Poland |
| Summary | This research discusses development of Polish civil society under the impact of the European Union’s structural policy. After Poland’s accession to the EU in 2004, civil society organizations have become entitled to apply for funding from the European Social Fund. Basing on document analysis and a case study of a project carried out within the framework of the Community Initiative EQUAL, the involvement of civil society actors in the employment policy and its consequences are discussed. The analysis shows that enrollment of the civil society actors in the project of good governance has implications for the relations of power between them and the European Union. Techniques of good governance orchestrate the settings for the actions in the field of civil society and enable the European Union to govern this field at a distance. |
