Title The Cult of the Fallen Soldier in Serbia and Hungary (1914-1918) Seen through war monuments
Summary This paper examines post WWI monuments in Serbia and Hungary, specifically those representing the cult of the fallen soldier. The fallen soldier represents the memory of the war and the attitudes taken towards the experience of the war. I argue that the way these memories are transformed into monuments contributes to the understanding of the post war society and the attitudes towards the new Yugoslav state.
