Title Georgian Women in Germany - Empowerment through Migration?
Summary The thesis focuses on young Georgian women’s migration experience to Germany. Specifically, its aim is to discover whether young Georgian migrant women feel themselves empowered as a result of migration and what they see as the constitutive elements of the empowerment. The study is placed into a theoretical framework of the integrative approach to feminized migration. My research showed that Georgian migrant women’s opportunities to have access to a higher western type education in Germany, the possibility to lead an independent life, to have a stable income, to finance their studies and organize their lives were perceived as empowering aspects of migration.
