Title Maria Laskaris and Elisabeth the Cuman: Two Examples of Arpadian queenship
Summary This thesis represents the biographies of two thirteenth century Hungarian queens: Maria Laskaris, the wife of Bela IV coming from Nicea and Cuman wife of Bela' s son Stephen Elisabeth. The paper furthermore compares these two cases with the established patterns of medieval queenship and examines the source representation of the mentioned queens in order to find out how much they managed to meet the established requirements.
