Title Freedom of Information as the Oxygen of Democracy: a Case Study on Nigeria
Summary The premise of this writing is that Freedom of information is a core right that promotes the enjoyment of other rights and this consequently powers the engine that ensures a democracy functions properly in a given society or context using Nigeria as a case study. It answers the following questions: What is freedom of information and its elements; are there limits to this right; what is meant by a functioning democracy; what role does it play in ensuring good governance; and can a society be democratic without it?
