Title Exegesis According to the Rules of Philosophy or the Rule of Faith? Methodological Conflict in the Ninth-Century Predestination Controversy
Summary This thesis discusses the methodoligies and the principles and application of the participants of the ninth-century predestination debate with a special focus on the methodological conflict between John Scot Eriugena and his opponents, Prudentius of Troyes and Florus of Lion. I intent to show that in spite of the difference between their methodological principles they use one and the same logical language.
