Title SPATIAL AGENCY: THE ROLE OF TEHRAN'S FREEDOM SQUARE IN PROTESTS OF 1979 AND 2009
Summary This study explores the concept of “spatial agency” as a particular understanding of agency and space which goes beyond the human-centric conceptions of agency and provides theoretical capacities to explain the way architecture engages in social and political arenas. As a case study, this research employs the notion of spatial agency to investigate the role of Tehran’s Freedom Square in pre-revolution (1979) and post-election (2009) protests.
