Title The Cost of Reputation: Freedom of Speech and Defamation
Summary Freedom of Speech is one of the fundamental rights guaranteed by many international and regional human rights instrument. Similarly, this right is guaranteed by national bill of rights and constitution around the world. However, Freedom of speech is not an absolute right and exercise of this right can be restricted to protect certain legitimate aims. Protection of respect of others is one of such legitimate interest for which freedom of expression can be limited. This paper tries to find out how a proper balance can be maintained between this two rights.
