Summary This thesis studies the impact of world oil prices changes on two neighboring countries: oil-exporting Azerbaijan and oil-importing Turkey. In particular, it is concentrated on the impact of the changes in the world oil market on Azerbaijan’s GDP, oil exports, budget revenues and expenses, as well as foreign direct investments in the country, and GDP, oil exports and imports, budget revenues and expenditures of Turkey. Using Static and also Finite Distributed Lags models comparative analysis of the oil price fluctuations impact on these countries’ macroeconomies is provided. It is concluded that Azerbaijan’s macroeconomy is highly vulnerable to the changes in the world oil markets, while these changes do not significantly influence Turkey’s macroeconomy.
