| Summary | This thesis consists of six chapters. In the first chapter we have given a short introduction of the subject describing some areas of applications of lattices. Chapter two chiefly contains basic definitions with examples. In chapter three we have described some special notions in lattices. Chapter four is the core of the thesis. It discusses distributive lattices in detail. Chapter five introduces the concept of congruences in lattices and some related concepts. The last chapter six is devoted to the study of representations of distributive lattices. |
