| Title | Bulgarian foreign policy in the context of the Prague Spring |
| Summary | The thesis examines the Prague Spring, one of the most crucial events in Eastern Europe during the Cold War, from the perspective Bulgaria - state member of the Warsaw Treaty Organization. The work traces the development of its foreign policy throughout the period of crisis, from March to October 1968. It reveals different practices conducted by the Bulgarian Communist Party, in order to tackle the deviationist model represented by the CPCZ, illustrating the internal political measures and the active position of the political leadership during International meetings related to the situation in Czechoslovakia. I also attempt to shed a light upon the motivation and the expectations of Bulgaria, taking it as a case study about the role of a Soviet satellite, during this phase of collision in the Socialist Camp. Therefore, the thesis combines the particular character of the Bulgarian foreign policy with strongly emphasized international context. |
