| Title | Jewish Juvenile Literature in Interwar Czechoslovakia as a Mirror of Identity Search |
| Summary | The thesis is analyzing Jewish juvenile literature of pre-WWII Czechoslovakia as a source of important information on the development of the plural identity of the Jews of the Czech Lands, following the formation of a Czechoslovak political identity within the twenty years of the First Republicīs life (1918-1938) and the Second Republic (1938 – 1939). Basing the theory on the research of Katerina Capková and Hillel Kieval, the author of the thesis is using studies of selected childrenīs literature to illustrate the social, cultural and political changes and the way they were perceived by children and youth. A special focus is being given to ideologies behind the specific Jewish childrenīs literature and the reflections of such writings by the young readers themselves. The research of the primary sources is used to support the theory of multiple identities of pre-WWII Czechoslovak Jewry. |
