Author Bending, Rachel Olivia
Title Minority Integration in Transition States: the Case of Post-Soviet Georgia
Summary This thesis examines the impact of transition on the integration of national minorities in Georgia, as well as the major obstacles posed to minority integration. In particular, it analyses the two largest and compactly-settled minorities in the country, the Armenians of Javakheti and the Azeris of Kvemo Kartli. It argues that structural and societal features of Georgia's delayed transition continue to hinder the integration of these two minorities, while creating problems for the realization of a civic national identity in the country.
