| Summary | This thesis traces the history of German Turkish Islamic associational organization from 1961 to the present day, examining emergent modes of organization through the lens of the 2006 to 2010 meetings of the German Islam Conference. The author argues that the Conference reflects a new mode of associational organization dramatically divergent from that of previous decades, one characterized by a centralized national framework, greater inter-associational collaboration, and extensive partnership with the German state. |
