Title | THE POLICY IMPACT OF THE SPECIAL REGIME FOR DOMESTIC WORKERS 2011 REFORM ON DOMESTIC WORKER IN SPAIN |
Summary | This thesis investigates and assesses the policy impact of the SRDW 2011 reform on domestic workers. It identifies the positive and negative aspects of the reform based on the criteria of the Law 27/2011 and Royal Decree 1620/2011 regarding to the spheres of social protection and employment relationship. It analyzes the reform according to the perspectives of different interest groups. Based on the secondary data and empirical evidences, this thesis argues that the SRDW 2011 reform rather than granting protective action, job security and working conditions, the implementation of the reform contributes to lower their wages and deducing the number of working hours. Moreover, this thesis underlines that the reform puts domestic workers in a worse position and make them a vulnerable target for exploitation and mistreatment. |
