| Summary | This thesis is a contribution to the literature that examines the relations of empires, liberalism and nationalism. It provides an analysis of political discussions from Britain, Hungary and Spain, channeled by a biography of Hungarian liberal leader Ferenc Deák. The objective of the thesis is to show in small scale how political practice was moving away from liberal ideas in these countries in the last quarter of the 19th century. |
