Summary There are many benefits to Community Indicator Systems (CISs) that contribute to sustainable development goals. This thesis presents a conceptual approach to the application of a CIS in a coastal community in El Salvador, where the development needs and priorities of the community were taken into account to tailor a measurement system that is relevant at the local and global level.
