Title | The Developemtnal State Minsuderstood: The Second Orb??n Governemnt a Political Economy Analysis |
Summary | This thesis contributes to this debate by investigating the merits of claims by the government about following the East Asian model of development in its political and economic policy making. We find that in every crucial area that played a role in the East Asian states’ successes did inform the changes that were made in their Hungarian counterparts. We also establish that differences may be possible between the two due to the changed geo-political and historic circumstances. However the great differences between the two, especially in the areas of industrial development and state-business relations, bureaucracy and educational policy cannot be justified on those basis. Thus we conclude that the vast dissimilarities are the result of the underlying power motives in the Hungarian system |
