Title The Compliance Black Box: Analyzing the Impact of the Inter-American Human Rights System in Domestic Policies
Summary This thesis explores the impact of the Inter-American Human Rights Protection Systems on domestic human rights policies from member states. While the regional human rights regime in the Americas is equipped with a vast array of monitoring and enforcement mechanisms, compliance varies significantly across countries and periods. What explains the ability -or lack thereof- of the system to bring about compliance and, moreover, to determine changes in domestic human rights policies? This work will delve deeply into the factors that might explain these disparities in the relationship between states and the regional body.
