CEU eTD Collection (2016); Koralewska, Weronika: Nudge-approach and the perception of human nature, social problems, and the role of state

CEU Electronic Theses and Dissertations, 2016
Author Koralewska, Weronika
Title Nudge-approach and the perception of human nature, social problems, and the role of state
Summary This thesis analyzes how the nudge-approach perceives human nature, social problems and the role of the state, with the stress on how it shifts the focus from the broader, holistic context, to the situation of the chooser's individual decision. This research remains in line with the assumption that ideas themselves matter and that power per se, being intertwined with knowledge and language, with which we describe reality, has a diffused nature. Investigating the theoretical underpinnings of the nudge-approach together with contrasting them with different theories, the analysis shows the distinctiveness of the nudge-approach. In addition, the thesis suggests what the nudge-approach overlooks.
