| Title | Formation of kazakh autonomous soviet socialist republic as the first step of realization of the soviet model of nation-state building in kazahstan |
| Summary | This thesis deals with the beginning of realization of the Soviet model of nation-state building in Kazakhstan – formation of Kazakh Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic (1917 –the beginning of 1920s). Thesis provides national, social and political factors in Kazakhstan present on the eve of the Socialist revolution. It examines the features of soviet nation-state building in the period of establishment of Soviet Power and Civil War in Kazakhstan and analyzes the political status of the new autonomous republic and the main dimensions of its development, difficulties and contradictions in the first years of KASSR. Thesis argues that there were no real preconditions for Bolshevik revolution in Kazakhstan. The Soviet project of nation-state building was realized under conditions of severe military confrontation of the Civil War, the struggle with Kazakh national project, suggested by Alash party and balancing between interests of Kazakh and Russian political groups in local soviet administrative units. Analysis of the main documents, regulating the status of the Kazakh Autonomous Republic, demonstrates a low degree of independence of KASSR on the Central authorities of the RSFSR. However, formation of KASSR became an important step in the development of Kazakh statehood, unification of the Kazakh lands and building of Kazakh nation. |
