| Summary | This work explores the ways in which Jews responded to the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. There is a special focus on early and emerging responses, but some responses from after 1949 are also mentioned. The work does not heavily discuss specific nonproliferation movements of later decades, but instead focuses on the immediate cultural discourse surrounding the bombing, and the ways in which it was received by Jewish communities and scholars in the aftermath of World War 2. Themes of trauma and group identity are present analytically. |
