| Title | Localize and rule Politics and practice towards the Jews in the Serbian princedom 1838-1868 |
| Summary | Focused on a relatively small but in numerical values consistent Jewish community in Belgrade, the idea of this urban case study with greater repercussions is to portray the political shifts but also structural changes in relation of the princedom’s authorities towards the Jewish community. Following the dynamics of the policies towards Jews in the period from 1838 and 1868, thus the rule of the Constitutionalists and prince Mihailo, the focus of this thesis is in establishing the reasons, mechanisms and consequences of localizing the Jews. In order to capture this, I looked at different kinds of sources – from state’s statistical material, through the documents of the Ministries of Interior and Education and Church. |
