Title "bulgarian church tradition and identity through the prism of the ohrid archbishopsric and byzantium (1019 - 1234)"
Summary This thesis deals with the Byzantine perception (mostly from the part of the Ohrid archbishops) of the congregation of the Ohrid Archbishopric in the Early and High Middle Ages and. Most of the chronological period Bulgaria was under Byzantine rule and after it was overthrown the Ohrid archbishops continued to be Greek. Nevertheless the main points argument maintained in the text are that the Byzantine political authority as well as the Ohrid Archbishopric created favorable conditions for the preservation of the Bulgarian church tradition and identity and they also contributed to a large extent in their documentation.
