| Title | Fair Equality of Opportunity and Inheritance: How to Tax Inheritance? |
| Summary | The thesis provides a conceptualization of fair equality of opportunity (FEO). I argue that Rawlsian FEO implies that not only social but also economic arbitrariness, especially in the earlier years of an individual's life, cannot be justified. Based on this conceptualization, I argue for a social inheritance taxation program to level-up individuals in the earlier years of their lives, as well as a lifetime quota on gifts and bequests to level individuals in latter stages of their lives. |
