Title The Public Zone:Crowdfunded Human Rights Journalism in post-2014 Russia
Summary This thesis is concerned with crowdfunded critical journalism initiatives specializing in human rights in Russian Federation. It studies the bottom-top media projects contributing to human rights awareness-raising through process-tracing and expert interviews. The central questions of this thesis are (1) the feasibility of the narrow-themed critical media resources operating on donations and (2) their role in the agenda-setting in the human rights sector. This research aims to contribute to the literature on awareness-raising through digital media.
