Title The Impact of Financial Regulation on Bank Risk-Taking; Capital Adequacy Regulation vs Deposit Insurance
Summary This paper, based on the reviewed literature, conducts a secondary analysis to understand what are the incentives which increase the level of risk-taking in the banking sector, whether there is intense competition giving significant grounds to the banks for excessive risk-taking. Additionally, it discusses how financial regulation impacts the risk-taking in the banking sector and the possible flaws of the regulation. A comparison is conducted between two preventive governmental interventions: Capital adequacy requirement and Deposit Insurance. Further policy recommendations have been made to improve financial regulation in the banking sector.
