| Summary | This research looks at uncovering the relationship between the cultural phenomenon that is Hip-Hop, and the United States State Department. This work successfully argues that Hip-Hop is an art form that has been used as an exercise of soft power by the State Department. I demonstrate that Hip-Hop culture, and especially underground hip-hop/rap music is used in a particular way to send a tailored message to certain areas of the world where they might not be too fond of the United States policies and way of life. |
