Title 20 Years Of Armenian Gender Pay Gap: What Has Changed?
Summary In this thesis I analyze the dynamics of Armenian gender pay gap over the last two decades. To do so, I estimate and decompose Armenian pay gap using 2019 Armenian labor force survey data. I find unobservable characteristics are the main contributors to the gap. Using Armenian Population Census 2001 database I then test whether the change in endowments explains the evolution of the gap. I find that only the change in education levels could contribute the decline in the gap. I conclude that the change is mainly driven by a set of unobservable variables. To enable further decrease in the gender pay gap, Armenia must rather focus on correction of social norms.
