Title How COVID-19 Shifts World Economy and US Market: Past, Present and Outlook
Summary The COVID-19 pandemic has induced turbulence in world economy and financial markets. Although there is no finalized name for it in financial field, its impact has already dwarfed many crises in history. This report aims to compare the COVID-19 crisis with past financial crises and epidemic crises, to research on their common features, and impacts on the world economy as well as US financial markets. Firstly, this report summaries some theories about financial crisis and makes an overview about the current situation of COVID-19. Then it compares COVID-19 with many similar crises in history. And finally, it gives the outlook about COVID-19. The outlook on the recovery mainly refers to the newest report from OECD and IMF, having two possible scenarios, and giving estimations on that. One is Single-hit scenario (a second wave is avoided), and the other is Double-hit scenario (a second wave of infections hits before year-end).
