Title An Institutional Investor's Commitment to Climate Conscious Investor Behavior
Summary This paper examines the ESG ratings, ESG rating agencies, and ESG ratings' impact on the financial performance both at the company level and portfolio level. The studies show that ESG integration has positive impacts on the stock price of a company and the financial performance of a portfolio but in a longer time horizon. Moreover, the study shows that institutional investors as the steward of nature have taken some steps toward reaching their commitment to net-zero carbon emission. However, they still need to exit from investing in the coal industry which is a major driver of climate change in the world. Further study shows a close similarity between ESG investing and conventional investing implemented by Shari’a law in some Islamic countries.
