| Title | A Comprehensive Study of Medieval and Early Modern Scripts in Kerala |
| Summary | Many of the studies only look at how Malayalam scripts are developed, and which are the scripts used in medieval and early modern times. If the reason is that script used to write another language, then the entire history does not make any sense. So it is important to include Arabi Malayalam and Garshuni Malayalam in popular history of medieval and early modern scripts of Malayalam. It will be useful not only the studies about scripts but also in studies about the language, culture and history of the society. By analysing the origin and development of Arabi Malayalam and Garshuni Malayalam scripts in the context of contact linguistics, gives more clarity about the cultural and language situation of early modern Kerala. Knowledge and studies about these scripts will help to understand more historical sources which are unexplored until now, it will also help to correct the errors in existing historiography of Kerala. |
