Author Davis, Bryce
Title Household Biomass Incineration and Climate Accounting in Republic of Bulgaria
Summary Incomplete
The aim of this thesis is to discover how the Republic of Bulgaria accounts for the environmental impacts, chiefly greenhouse gas emissions, of forest biomass incineration in households for providing heat, and why it has accounted for environmental impacts in that way. To that end, I explore national Bulgarian policies on forestry protection, household biomass incineration, and emissions accounting, and the real-world impacts of those policies.
Research questions:
How does Bulgaria account for and manage the environmental impacts, chiefly greenhouse gas emissions, of forest biomass incineration in household heating, and why does the country handle the impacts in that way?
How are the policies and practices on accounting for forest biomass incineration, particularly in household heating perceived by different actors in Bulgaria?
