Title | From Tradition to Transmission - Lessons from Slovenian Beekeeping Heritage Management for Presenting the Czech Beekeeping Heritage |
Summary | This thesis looks at relationship between humans and bees in two Central European countries with long histories of beekeeping. It examines how the relationship to heritage has been shaped by the nation building processes in the two countries, and also looks at how this craft is transmitted in the wider frameworks of national cultural heritage protection. Through the comparison of Czech Republic and Slovenia, and the different ways they relate to and transmit their beekeeping heritage, I wish to develop a series of recommendations for implementation of a Czech urban bee path. The main aim is to create an educational project which would help people relate more closely to their past and to each other through community storytelling and participation in their mutual beekeeping heritage. |
