Title | Integrating Social Sustainability KPIs through APIs in Azure Data Factory: Leveraging Company Data for Performance Benchmarking and Predictive Analytics |
Summary | This capstone project aims to assist the company Sustainista in pioneering data-driven social sustainability decision-making in companies by integrating social sustainability KPIs through APIs in Azure Data Factory (ADF). Through challenges such as inconsistent reporting standards and the absence of standardized KPI benchmarks for certain social sustainability measures, this project tackles these problems by developing a dynamic prototype dashboard for companies to input their data and visualize their company's performance, and find new machine learning tools to help improve their company in the future. Four primary KPIs—Gender Wage Gap, Female Employment Rate, Disability Employment rate, and Occupational Illness Rate—, were calculated using free, open-source Eurostat APIs, which were integrated into Sustainista's ADF. Mock company data was generated to represent company data, which was then integrated into the API data. A binary performance variable was developed to represent the performance of the company, which became the target variable in Linear Regression and Ensemble Machine Learning models. These results were visualized in Power BI, which provided a dynamic and cloud-connected dashboard. This prototype dashboard demonstrates the capabilities of API integration and benchmarking for social sustainability KPIs, and enables Sustainista to streamline social sustainability decision-making for their clients. Through detailed documentation procedures, this project establishes replicability and real-world application. |
