| Summary | This is a comprehensive view on Manuel Gabalas' life, works and thought. It offers a new biography and study on the intellectual network of this important scholars from the Palaiologan period. Then, I also provide an analysis of his so far unedited works, including an inspection into his Homeric works and the tradition of ethical / mystical interpretation of the Odyssey. The research concludes with an study on his philosophical and theological works, which offer a doctrinal Orthodox alternative to the accepted theology of Gregory Palamas. |
