Title Cultural Policy Approaches and Industrial Art Sponsorship: The Case of Dunaujvaros and Linz in the 1960s-1980s
Summary This thesis examines post-war Hungarian and Austrian cultural policy approaches and the progress of state and private funding from the 1960s to the 1980s. It analyzes the attitude of industrial establishments towards local cultural and artistic initiatives, furthermore, the background of political, social and economic approaches that determined the cultural scene at both side of the Iron Curtain. Danubian steel factories, the VÖEST Alpine in Linz and the ISD Dunaferr Danube Ironworks in Dunaújváros, served as the basis of my comparison together with the steel sculpture parks they helped to establish during the 1970s. The long-term consequences of their supportive practice are also emphasized
