| Title | Technological Innovations and the Revitalization of Museum Areas.Case Study: The City of Gjirokaster, Albania |
| Summary | In the field of architecture, rapid changes in technology serve many opportunities for designing modern buildings, improving old ones, or building new infrastructure. Such technological innovations influence not only the built heritage but also the community related to it and the economy of cities, especially in the case of a museum city such as Gjirokastra where authenticity and tourism are the pillars of the city’s revenue. Hence, this thesis aims to reveal the conditions of the current situation of built heritage, the role of technology in its revitalization process, and the relation with citizens. Furthermore, it provides an analysis of particular architectural projects and concerns that they cause based on UNESCO policies, memorial sites, and authenticity. This thesis explores the benefits of taking historical, social, and economic stakes into an account. |
